Things that really .. really piss me off: part VI

People who go abroad on holiday and complain about the food.

They know where they're going, so why go there if they have a feeling they're not going to like the food?

Questions abound, as do concerns, not least the fact that most of these people are just miserable bastards who aren't happy unless they're eating processed shit from a tin or a bag that they hoist in & out of the microwave...

That is the culture today.. people only want to experience what they are comfortable about, and leave the rest (or at least complain about it). They would go to poor countries and only visit the beaches, live in the posh hotels and leave only in a luxury car. If you want to *really* visit a place, mix with the locals. Share in what they enjoy, and soak in the culture.

"But, I found Italy to be a little dissappointing."

My mother said the same thing.

Not knowing that the traditional Italian pizza is actually quite dull, she asked for some salami, among other things.

The restraunter got the hump on and that was that, really!

"What kind of Pizza do they have in the Britain (this may be an odd question)?"

It indeed an odd question, but never mind!

Just about whatever you want.

In my local town, there's a pizzeria called Americano's, ironically enough.

They do some excellent pizzas that often fill my trunk with when out boozing of a night with the lads & lasses.

I remember going to Paris, France with college.

My eyes were on stalks .. I wanted to try everything!

One of the oddest things I discovered is that the Parisian prize their undercooked steak & chips (fries)

Saying that the meat was undercooked is somewhat of an understatement.

You didn't get a knife & fork, you instead saw someone wipe the cows' arse, slap it on the back and send it in with a cattle prod and a meat cleaver.

As a rule, I like to eat stuff that is the right side of dead...

Funny, me and hubby-bub were just talking about something very similar this evening - People who come back from vacation and complain about how sick they got.
It never fails - these are always the people who go tropical and end up inhaling every fruit that crosses their path and drinking their faces off complete with icecubes.
Hey, I'm not saying I wouldn't do the same (Lord knows I'd love to), I just wouldn't bother yapping about the fact that I had the trots on vacation knowing I had caused them!

My nephew is always a good example of the average guy.

He will go abroad and spend the first day looking for some place that sells 'traditional English food', which typically entails fish & chips, burgers[?] and pizza[?!]

Nothing like immersing yourself in the culture and the cuisine, is there?

hmmm... but equally there's nothing like spending three days squatting over a hole in the ground that passes as a toilet and clutching a selection of leaves...

Zu!

You're alive!

I'd almost given up on you.

"hmmm... but equally there's nothing like spending three days squatting over a hole in the ground that passes as a toilet and clutching a selection of leaves..."

I'm guessing this is from experience?

I recently read that squatting toilets are good for your bowels... but beware of the leaves! Some of them itch like hell :-D.

I was beginning to give up on myself too! is almost a joy to be back at work and not bedridden.

I've had a few nasty experiences in my time but none so bad as my poor mother, who walked the inca trail last year and had a very, very unfortunate time bowel-wise. i think it had something to do with the raw frog milkshake they made her drink... mmm, lovely local cuisine!
