I think sray more or less hit the nail on the head for me too. but when you say 'uncalled-for' violence, does that mean you don't object to 'called-for' violence? and what would that be anyway?

Ok, I guess my list is:
1/ Hypocrisy
2/ Intolerance
3/ Stupidity
4/ Carelessness
5/ Discrimination
6/ Organisational Bullying (including Governments and Religions)
7/ Selfishness
8/ Willful Ignorance

I'm sure I'll think of more, just give me some time....

OK, time for some honesty:

1/ Hypocrisy

Yep. Done that one.

There are times when hypocrisy is a requirement.

While not being a dad [or at least, I'm not aware of any offspring of mine] I know that when dealing with kids, the old adage: "Do as I say and not as I do." is very much relevant from time to time.

2/ Intolerance

I tend to be very intolerant of a great deal of things.

3/ Stupidity

Not that I know of, but then if I was really stupid, I wouldn't know it, would I?

Oh!

4/ Carelessness

Usually deliberately so, which I know is worse.

5/ Discrimination

C'mon! We all do this on one level or another on a near hourly basis.

Be specific, will ya! ;-)

6/ Organisational Bullying (including Governments and Religions)

I was a bullied child, which might answer a lot of things.

I soon fixed that one day when I beat the shit out of the kids doing the bullying.

Strange how quickly the whole bullying thing stopped.

Odd.

7/ Selfishness

See answer to point 5.

8/ Willful Ignorance

Hmm.

Onkroes, sometimes violence is necessary. For example, if a person is threatening to kill his hostages, and wouldnt listen to anything.. I am whole-heartedly in support of a sniper who would take him out.

C'mon, people!

Let's have some grit 'n' honesty.

Let's have some inflammatory verbiage sure to start some firestorm of indignation.

Give me anger, angst, envy, hatred, wrath and venom.

I DEMAND IT!!!

sray: ok, yeah I understand, and agree.

Wayne: Specifics, eh?

1/ Hypocrisy: "Do as I say and not as I do" is bull - if I'm doing something I wouldn't want them doing (apart from legal reasons, like driving or drinking) then I shouldn't be - I should be setting a good example. I'm not saying I've never been a hypocrite on occasion, and I am suitably ashamed and apologetic. The specific hypocrisy that pisses me off is when Religious people claim to be better than others, then actually act like the worst idiots in society, or say 'love' but act 'hate' (sorry I did say I wouldn't blog about religion, but you did ask).

2/ Intolerance: probably my least attractive facet at times, I'm more tolerant than my dad, but less then my kids (and I guess that's at least normal). The specific intolerance that pisses me off is that shown by the liberal centre-left to the far right or left.

3/ Stupidity: Oh I don't think you're stupid Wayne! I understand that some individual's brains are incable of proper rational thought, but far too much stupidity is actually laziness, that pisses me off.

4/ Carelessness: No, not deliberate, though that would piss me off, but in particular motoring carelessness pisses me off. People who could quite literally couldn't Care-Less. Bastards. Pay attention people!

5/ Discrimination: You might do it on an hourly basis, but I think/hope I don't. I'm talking about the discernment side of discrimination, I'm talking about the intolerance side of it. The situation when you can't get promotion because you're not in the right clique, or because you're a woman, or not the right colour. That pisses me off.

6/ Organisational Bullying: I wasn't talking about personal bullying, and I too was bullied as a child, which didn't end until my parents moved out of the area with me. I'm talking about fucking corporations (and I include the government and the church) who treat you like shit and expect you to bend over and take it. It's different if you want to do the crap they want you to do, but most of us don't - even if you work for yourself, have you never been the victim of a 'mistake' by a gas/electric company? or a bank? What about the 'Nanny state'? It's true, and it's not nannying most of the time, it's just bullying, because they're bigger than you, and you can't fight back. It pisses me off.

7/ Selfishness: Partly the root of the Carelessness I mentioned earlier - it's the "I matter, you don't" attitude, culture, and downright shit you have to deal with on the road, in the shops, at work. There's a guy at work who rarely does any work, he always manages somehow to palm his work off on other people, that pisses me off, and it's not just laziness, it's utter selfishness, he doesn't care whether other people are put out or have an increased workload.

8/ Willful Ignorance: Sometimes ignorance can't be helped, sometimes your education wasn't as extensive or adequate as you'd wish, but there's an increasing culture of people who think it's clever to be ignorant. Sounds stupid (yes), but it's true, mostly this is seen on the kind of mindless tv shows "worlds blankiest blank" and it pisses me off.

Anyway, I know I haven't been as specific as you probably wanted, but hopefully it's better than just the list.

Oh and it pisses me off that I'm not as eloquent or educated or smart as some of the people I encounter.
